Primary Classroom Magic: Using iPads to Meet the Rigors of ELA/CCS

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Welcome to the magical world of literacy and technology integration in the primary grades. As educators, administrators, and technology integration specialists, we want our students to be engaged in their learning and motivated to produce meaningful projects demonstrating their skills and content knowledge. Blending a love of children’s literature with the increased rigor of Common Core English Language Arts Standards, this session will assist teachers in designing a 21st Century primary grade classroom. Infusing technology with mobile devices helps students both acquire and apply the concepts taught.
In this session we will explore how to utilize iPads in an effort to integrate English Language Arts Common Core Standards. We will explore both literature and informational text as well as a range of writing genres and thematic units. An assortment of apps and app-smashing; such as DoodleBuddy, Shadow Puppet Edu, PicCollage, Skitch, ChatterPix Kids, Shutterfly Photo Story, and Haiku deck will be used to create projects and demonstrate learning. In addition, a variety of supportive content apps will be used to build student content knowledge and assist in research. Using iPads and age-appropriate apps gives primary classroom teachers opportunities to instill in young students a curiosity about literature, science, social studies, language, and the world in which they live. A mixture of these apps can turn iPads into multidisciplinary, inquiry-driven, field-based tools useful across all curricula.

Join us for this interactive session and leave motivated to implement engaging common core literacy activities..
